To Save the Haunted Victorian Mansion, Gardner, Ma.
in 1875, furniture magnate, S.K. Pierce built a 3-story Second Empire Victorian mansion in the town of Gardner, Massachusetts, which is located sixty miles west of Boston. Gardner is celebrated as the furniture capital of New England, with Mr. Pierce’s factory being one of the top producers of chairs worldwide during his time. He wanted a home to fit his stature, so he hired two-hundred men to work around the clock to finish the mansion in just under a year and a half. The mansion contains 57 windows, 72 doors, plus front doors 10-feet high, all still fitted with their original woodwork and fixtures.
